Who are our Founders?

Dr. Sahar Rameez

Dr. Sahar Rameez, the esteemed founder of SHAW, is a highly accomplished Pakistani medical doctor who has made significant contributions to the field of Public Health in Canada, the UK, and Pakistan. Her work strategically centres around the critical domain of youth mental health, leveraging cutting-edge digital health solutions to proactively address early prevention. Additionally, she spearheads initiatives in the realm of global mental health, diligently working towards the seamless integration of mental health services within primary care settings. Her objective is to spearhead the SHAW project in Pakistan and globally, with the aim of fostering evidence-based practices within educational institutions. As a highly accomplished Ph.D. student at the prestigious Lancaster University, she is diligently engaged in cutting-edge research that strategically tackles the formidable barriers obstructing the realm of youth mental health. Her groundbreaking work is focused on skillfully bridging the pervasive “know-do gap,” thereby revolutionising the landscape of this critical domain.

Dr. MUHAMMAD IQBAL AFRIDI

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Afridi is the Co-founder Dean of Psychiatry at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan. He also heads the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and holds various positions in prestigious organizations. His accomplishments include Fellowships from the American Psychiatric Association and the Royal Society of Medicine, UK. He has received numerous awards, including the Life Achievement Award on World Mental Health Day in 2001 and the Avicenna Research Award in 1988. Prof. Afridi is not only a distinguished clinical psychiatrist and mental health expert but also actively contributes to scientific research and international conferences.
